The "Nature Study" series is an easy-reading edition of Wayland's "Discovering Nature" series. The photographs from Oxford Scientific Films remains the same, but the text is shortened and simplified. This book tells the reader what frogs and toads look like and how they begin their lives as tadpoles. Their various habitats throughout the world are described, on land, in the water, in the deserts, and in trees. The author describes their life history, from egg to tadpole to fully grown adult, including some examples of the unusual ways in which frogs and toads protect their eggs and care for their young. The author is presently the headteacher of a large primary school at Crickwell in Powys.
