Taken from a series which looks at the different forms of non-verbal communication, this book deals with body language. This series has been specially designed to meet the needs of cross-curricular project work within the framework of the National Curriculum, and should be of use as a resource for children's topic work on communications. This book looks at the ways in which people and animals use their bodies to pass messages and information to one another. The opening chapters of the book examine the meanings of the different gestures which people make both consciously and unconsciously. The author then goes on to discuss the significance of body decoration, animal body language, theatre and dance, and the special gestures used by sports referees, musicians and in religious ceremonies. The author has written several other books for Wayland, including titles in the "Great Journeys" and "Prehistoric Life" series.
