This pictorial history of Essex County Cricket Club traces the history of the club from its early beginnings in 1876 through the golden age, the 1930s, the 1940s and 1950s to their first championship trophy in 1979 and beyond. From the breakthrough in 1979 until 1998, Essex won the county championship six times, the Benson & Hedges Cup twice, the National Westminster Bank Trophy twice and the John Player Sunday League three times.
