This title explores the provocative and acclaimed work of Liu Wei, one of China's most innovative contemporary artists. Liu Wei, considered one of the most progressive artists working in China today, explores his ideas in a multitude of media that includes performance, sculpture, photography, video, painting and installation. This book brings together a selection of works crucial to understanding Liu's practice, beginning with earlier works such as "Love It, Bite It" (2006), an array of building models made of ox hide dog chews; and the provocative photographic study "As Long As I See It" (2006). The centrepiece of this volume is the project Trilogy, a monumental project that weaves several varied threads of Liu's practice into three major sculptural installations: "Merely A Mistake II" (2009-2011), "Golden Section" (2011) and "Power" (2011). These works are juxtaposed with paintings from his renowned "Purple Air" series and the more recent "Meditation" series.
