This work is aimed specifically at GNVQ and gSVQ students at Intermediate level in schools, FE and 5th form colleges, and other students with a need for vocational maths help, especially City and Guilds Numeracy and Number power. Learner interest is the central focus of this text which presents exercises directly related to aspects of the everyday life of young adults and the careers they are heading for, via GNVQ qualifications. Knowing that many of the readers will need to be reminded of the basic "rules of maths", at the back of the book there is a section titled "Guidance notes to polish your basic skills" which gives reminders on topics such as multiplying fractions. Each of the 12 units ends with a section of revision papers about work on the contents of the units just completed, and offers a scenario presented as a class- or group-discussion feature.
