"The A-Z of Agility" demonstrates Dawn Weaver's unique style of training which puts emphasis on letting a dog use his own natural power and speed - how to channel a dog's enthusiasm and not suppress it. Knowledge equals speed is Dawn's mantra, and her teaching reflects an ethos of training based on giving a dog good and honest information early so that he can perform with confidence. This book will inspire all grades of handlers, from exercises with which to start puppies off to advanced handling skills. There is a troubleshooting section at the end of each topic to assist with any potential problems. There are tips on how to get consistency between training and the ring environment. You will find help and advice on a whole host of agility-related subjects, from A = Attitude (of you and your dog to agility) right through to Z = Zoomies and why your dog may feel the need to do them!Dawn Weaver started doing agility twenty years ago with a Rough Collie (Pepsy) and a Beardie x Border (Chi-Chi). Growlabear won her first class for her in Elementary and Galaxy won her out of Starters about fifteen years ago.
Winston, a papillon, was her first small dog and he was the one who first qualified her for Crufts in the knockout. He is now twelve years old. Her papillon, Dreamer, won Olympia in 2003, and made it to the FCI World Championships in both 2004 and 2005, as well as IFCS World Championships in 2006, and won the min/maxi pairs at Crufts in 2006 with Tony Dawkins. Her poodle Chelsea was silver medalist at the 2006 IFCS World Championships, and 6th overall at the FCI Championships in Switzerland. Now an Agility Champion, Chelsea has ten Championship tickets, She won at Olympia in both 2006 and 2007, and won Crufts Singles and the Crufts Championship in 2007. Dawn now also has three beardie/collie crosses, all competing at advanced level - Freeway and Minky both have their first Championship tickets and Promise is not far behind with one reserve CC. New on the block is Puzzle, another papillon, who is clearly going places, and a crowd favourite.
