This book provides an approach to simulation projects which should enable existing simulation users to improve their effectiveness, whilst giving new users the tools to perform successful projects. Initial chapters introduce the concept of simulation, where it can be applied and its benefits, as well as providing a discussion on how to select the correct project, tools and team members. Later chapters take the reader through each phase, from the definition of objectives, through model building and experimentation, to reporting and implementing the results. The focus throughout is on practical methods and the statistical content is kept to a minimum. The principles are demonstrated by two sample projects which are followed throughout the book. This book should be a useful guide for all those involved in a wide variety of different simulation applications.
