This book is written to inform and reinforce the idea of hope, recovery, and a normal life for people affected by mental illness. The stigma of mental illness hurts schizophrenics and their families. Stigma, the invisible beast, limits peoples' access to services in the community and even support from family but we can educate and fight against stigma. Despite their disability, people with schizophrenia have normal or above average intelligence and may be highly creative. Antidiscrimination legislation is needed, along with support for families and communities striving to include those with schizophrenia.
