Reading Rad Women Worldwide was sort of a breath of fresh air in the middle of an emotional sandstorm. I’ve had a ton going on in my own life (closing my bookstore, car issues, etc.) and I’ve need a read that would make me feel something other than entertainment, I needed something inspiring to get my mood up and ready to go. Rad Women Worldwide is that book.
Inside we have 40 entries on very influential women from all over the world, and all of the entries made me want to know more about them. So much so that I’ve started a personal challenge to read books about or by each woman (info here). There is a rather large mix of women here ranging from those who trail-blaze in sorts to women who have gave their lives to change their countries, and all of them are equally inspiring. Seriously I can’t stress enough at how absolutely empowering this book is. I actually think this would be an excellent book for kids and teens as well. Each story is rather short, no more than two pages of text, so you get an over view of their accomplishments and their fights but it also gives you a desire to go out and seek more info.
The illustrations are in a papercut style on top of very bright paper, and it really stands out and gives the book a really fresh look. I love the boldness of the images and it really makes for a gorgeous copy on my shelve.
Overall, i’m in love with this book. It’s short and sweet, and completely gorgeous. I can’t wait to find even more info on the women in this one (I’ve already read a few!) and I’m really excited to use it as a starting point to reading more women focused non-fiction.
