I'm shocked -- I really liked this! It didn’t feel affected, it wasn’t preachy, it wasn’t trite, it wasn’t full of platitudes and Christianese, and it didn’t promote a particular “flavor” of Christianity —- all reasons why I tend to avoid Christian fiction. The writing was really quite nice; it’s easy to get into the story and just enjoy it. The faith-related aspects of the story felt natural, and like any good coming of age story, there was a good bit of growth.

I can't believe i cried with this book!!!!

Hmm... Well, this was an interesting read, I guess.
I'm not Christian. I don't even believe in God half the time, so I found it hard to relate to Finley's search of him. I could understand her search of closure, her search of her brother's memory and spirit, but not God.
Don't get me wrong - I read books with God. Usually its fantasy books and God plays a rule more than someone's belief in him, but still. I also have nothing against Christianity.
But the fact I couldn't relate to half the messages of this book stays true, which is why I couldn't give it higher stars.
Still, it was different from my normal reads and I liked it. Good writer.
