Do we need another translation of the Holy Bible? Don't we have more than enough? Unfortunately, most translations have three flaws:
1. Word choice and usage misunderstanding often results in translation errors and lost subtleties in meaning.
This often resulted in apparently conflicting translations and commentaries.
2.By using footnotes and margin comments, modern translators seek to overcome these difficulties, but this makes the reading labored. Continuity is interrupted and the true majesty of the original language is lost.
3.The Torah was meant to be chanted, with the tunes adding meaning and emphasis to the listener's understanding.
Aramaic Targum "translations" of 2000+ years ago were a largely successful attempt to overcome these limitations. This Targum Americana borrows from that ancient technique that combines translation and commentary, and also infuses the resulting Targum with some sense in English of the beauty of the original Holy Tongue.
