Nobody's Boy is a heart warming and moving children's classic story by the French writer Hector Malot (1830-1907) First published as Sans Famille in 1878, the story was so popular that several film and TV versions of the story have been made. Remy is an orphan boy, who is found mysteriously abandoned as a baby in Paris by Barberin the stonemason. His foster mother raises him lovingly, but when he is only ten years old, Barberin sells him to Vitalis the travelling singer. Vitalis becomes Remi's guide, helping him to survive by teaching him to play the harp. Remy performs in market places throughout France with Joli-Coeur the monkey and three friendly dogs called Capi, Zerbino and Dolce. After many adventures and trials, including working as a gardener, in a circus and down a mine, he discovers almost too late who he really is. He discovers the secret of his birth and why he had been abandoned as a foundling.
