Managing International Conflict is a software/book package designed for use in international relations courses on conflict, security and war. The software, CASCON, is an interactive database of eighty-five world conflicts since 1945; it allows users to analyse historical conflicts and to model current ones. CASCON was developed by Lincoln Bloomfield and has been tested in classrooms in the US, by the US Government and by the UN. The book briefly covers issues in conflict, including ethnic conflict. It also contains an extensive bibliography and a user manual for CASCON. The software included with the book is licensed for use by one single individual book purchaser. It is designed to run on Windows 95 systems but includes additional software to make it possible to run on Windows 3.1. No software support is available. Every care has been taken in developing the product but use of the software is entirely at the risk of the purchaser and the publishers can take no responsibility for any loss incurred beyond refunding the cost of purchase.
