It helps that the writer, Sheila Crompton, isn't just any generic pet or animal writer, but is actually a seasoned ferret owner and has been running one of Britain's largest ferret rescue centers -- at least was by the publishing date of this book -- for many years. I haven't been able to find any information about it since, but that doesn't change the relevancy of that info here.
I was so surprised at the amazing information, facts, and level of care in this teeny tiny book. It actually encouraged owners to feed raw! In 1999! The only thing that seemed outdated (as in, in the actual text) was the cages and the brands available.
So if you're looking for a tiny, handy manual about ferrets, this is probably the best one I've read so far. Again, it helps the author is actually a ferret expert.
