This introductory text presents a new and unusual approach to digital electronics developed by the author during his years of experience as a teacher of the subject. Each chapter starts with a concise summary of the required theoretical background, which is followed by specific exercises. Thorough solutions are provided for all exercises and the author elaborates on important points and practical details. Subjects covered involve the design and realisation of digital circuits and sub-systems, and the use of small, medium and large-scale integrated circuits as appropriate. Particular attention is paid to correct interfacing between devices. TTL and CMOS families are treated in detail; interconnected and associated noise margins are thoroughly discussed and importance is attached to the avoidance of timing problems. All of the devices discussed are well-known and readily available.
