The MAK Center for Art and Architecture, Los Angeles, brings eight European artists and architects to live and work together in Los Angeles for six-month residency programs. These young creative workers live in the Mackey Apartments, designed by R.M. Schindler in 1939 and purchased by the Austrian government in 1995. They engage with the local artistic and architectural communities, presenting their final projects in exhibitions and open studios. More than just a record of the participants' activities, In Between engages in current interdisciplinary dialogue, in keeping with the MAK Center's mandate to consider the intersections between contemporary art and architecture.
