In reading the book description, I expected the book to be a bit creepy and perhaps have a paranormal element to it, but was pleased to see that this was not the case. (I do like paranormal, just not the type that deals with ghosts). The tone of the book is angsty, which is appropriate because it deals with suicide, betrayal and depression.

Savannah is a teenager dealing with grief related to the death of her father and more recently, betrayal by her best friend. She is rebellious and numb and just wants to feel.

The author did a great job in dealing with painful subjects. Though the book treats the subjects seriously, as it should, it wasn't so dark as to be depressing.
