The ecological crisis at the end of the 20th century threatens the survival of all living species and the sustainability of the planet, and challenges theologians to re-examine some of the central symbols and dogmas of Christianity. In this text, Kwok Pui-Lan reinterprets the doctine of Christology from a postcolonial, multifaith and ecofeminist perspective. Combining insights from contemporary studies on the historical Jesus, feminist reflections on Christology, critical and postcolonial theory, and Asian religious sensibilities, she critiques past Christological formulations and charts a new theological discourse. Kwok examines the ecological crisis and the ecumencial responses. She discusses the challenges of ecology to our Christological formulations, focusing on the issues of anthropocentrism, Christian imperialsm, and the myth of Christiam uniqueness.
