By selecting over 85 plants - shrubs, climbers, trees, and perennials and other border plants - each photographed in at least two seasons of interest, this title shows how, with imagination and a little planning, your garden can look good throughout the year. An entire page is allocated to each plant, although a plant that has an especially outstanding display in three or four seasons has been allocated a two-page description. The introduction explains the principles of planting for more than one season of interest. The different effects are then covered in sections dealing with foliage, flowers, berries, bark, and habit. The main part of the book is devoted to inspirational and highly informative plant features, with detailed information on their height and spread, habit, countrry of origin, flowering season, hardiness and cultivation.
