The newly ordained, John O'Bannon, takes up duties at Saint Malachy Parish. There, he pursues the sedate life of a pastoral priest. Family business, however, disturbs his Halcyon existence. His efforts to keep the family together leads him to uncover foul play--and entangles him in a love interest. He seeks the help and counsel of his pastor, but it only exacerbates matters. Events spiral chaotically until he is able to maintain neither his station, nor his faith.
