This collection of papers by an established authority on the economic theory of the multinational enterprise provides an integrated treatment of the theory with its important applications for industrial sectors, regions and international business policy. The theory is applied to smaller firms, to cooperative agreements between firms and to exports in the strategy of large multinational firms. Implications are drawn for supranational control of the multinational firm and for policy issues in the European Communities. The key service sector of tourism is analysed using the theory and its implications drawn for manpower management in the international construction industry. Special attention is paid to the Asia Pacific region in analysing Japanese foreign direct investment and management style together with the strategy of other Asia Pacific multinationals.
