This series tells what life was like for children, from birth to adulthood, in a particular period of history, or in a particular civilization. The influence of the young was particularly strong in the "swinging sixties" - an age of change, an age of affluence, a permissive society, an age of protest.The author describes world events which marked the decade - Sir Francis Chichester, the Aberfan disaster, the Great Train Robbery, and the assassination of President Kennedy.
