Dear Scotland was first performed as a promenade piece of theatre by the National Theatre of Scotland on 24 April 2014 at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

Twenty of Scotland’s leading playwrights, authors and poets were commissioned to write monologues inspired by a portrait of their choice, which each address Scotland now.

Dear Scotland is a witty, intelligent and irreverent conversation between Scotland and the figures, whether iconic or forgotten, that make the country what it is today.
