Caribbean Primary Science provides support and guidance for teachers. The authors all have considerable experience of primary level teaching and they understand the problems of teaching science with limited resources. The activities in this course do not rely on the use of specialist equipment. Teachers are guided as to how to make the best use of the resources available in their environment.
- Carefully structured Teacher's Guides (free on request) outline the main objectives, methods of teaching and suggestions for further work for each unit in the pupils' books.
- This course provides a balanced approach to learning for primary children. It develops the skills and attitudes they need to participate in science activities and the activities themselves have been carefully thought out and are designed to develop knowledge and understanding.
- This course uses a topic-based approach and clearly indicates through colour-coding the main areas of study. Topics are revisited in each unit of the course, so that children can maintain a balanced knowledge of plants, animals, humans, materials and their properties, energy and forces.
- The course also contains assessment activities and ideas for the teaching of environment and technology topics.
- Children will enjoy Caribbean Primary Science because it helps them to understand the important contribution science makes to their everyday lives, and those of their families and friends.
- The activities in the books are all based on situations that are familiar to children e.g. shopping, the home, the garden.
