This is a book of exclusive high fashion knitted lace designs from the 1840s to the present. Basic knitting skills, fine knitting cottons and fine needles are all that are needed to make delicate garments that will last a lifetime - maybe, two or three. The author has delved into the past to rediscover patterns which could have been lost forever but are now included in an array of outfits, not only for antique treasures but also for the more modern dolls. This collection of knitted lace patterns includes several designs for larger dolls and most of the costumes are of the walking-out or promenade style, and include dresses, blouses, mantles, boas, and long pleated skirts, many of them knitted in exclusive cottons such as Missoni and Anny Blatt. The author also includes a wide range of lace edgings, lace underwear, collars, tablecloths and blankets.
