Liam Flannery, a young Irish farmer, loses his wife and child in the horrors of the Irish potato famine and sets sail for a new life in America. But America is experiencing its own trials and Liam soon ends up amongst gun smugglers, whiskey peddlers and 'Indians' with their own very personal agendas, before finding himself fighting at the Battle of Gettysburg.
