Audio transcription modules are a popular part of many secretarial and administration courses. Despite this popularity, many training centres and colleges are currently using very old training programmes which take many hours to cover the material. AWL has already commissioned a main text (Wareing) to cover the area for the courses at stages II and III, however, there is still a gap for a succint introduction to the subject for lower level courses. This text should provide a comprehensive learning programme which will enable students to attain audio transcription competency in approximately 10-12 hours. Departments can thus save on delivery time by using this intensive and up-to-date programme. The aim of this text is to cover the main points of theory with plenty of practice material for the student. It will be accompanied by one C60 cassette of graded practice exercises and contains all instructions for students to work through the programme at their own pace. This flexibility means that it can be used by full-time and part-time students, in open learning workshops and by students in the workplace.
