An introduction to the blackwork stitching technique. The book gives a historical background to the craft, illustrates the materials needed and shows people how to design their own blackwork. The main part of the book consists of 15 projects, of varying levels of difficulty. This section includes a photograph of the finished project, and any making up instructions needed. The last section of the book comprises a library of patterns for stitchers to use. There are over 70 patterns, and each design has a chart of the pattern. Some are shown as stitched examples.
