The cricket commentator Brian Johnston reads from his autobiography, covering his professional and private life up to his retirement from the BBC in 1972. He began his working life in the family coffee business in Brazil, but wanted to be an actor and joined the BBC after a chance meeting with Wynford Vaughan Thomas. At first he reviewed new West End shows that were potential for future broadcasts, but in 1948 started his own series, "Let's Go Somewhere", with an audience of 20 million. Having first broadcast on cricket in 1946, he eventually joined BBC Television's commentary team.
