Receiving the Gita, and thanking someone for this means that from this day if not before you are blessed. The Gita is a holy book. One needs to read everything in it carefully, one step at a time. Read the first verse, understand it, implement what is good for you (which given that this is the Gita, is everything that you understand from it), and then when ready move to the next verse. Well, you are Hindu, so it will not be difficult for you to understand and implement straightaway the implications of the first chapter. Mostly this has to do with being polite at all times, however you are provoked. When after say 1 month you have practised the first chapter, then is the time to move to the second.
