Savanna finds her-self alone and on the run after her twin is killed. The killer left a message on his body saying, " Your next Savanna". She escapes an attempt on her life and is forced to join the Thirteenth Company to hide as a healers helper to the Dwarves. Her mother had told her on her death bed that her father was a Dwarf.
