This text addresses the frustration that many professors feel when teaching introduction to sociology courses using the inadequate layout of most textbooks written for that course. These frustrations range from never getting the chance to talk about collective behavior and social movements, to the texts not making a clear distinction between social structure and social process. "Fundamentals of Sociology" includes all of the theoretical topics typically covered in an introduction to sociology text; however, the arrangement of the topics is unique. The purpose is to present the basic fundamentals of sociology so that an instructor can supplement these with his or her favorite readings.
