"I look at everything"Says Paul Shaw in the chapter titled Minding our Qs. I think that quote illuminates the point of this book. Look at everything, even the stuff you don't normally look at. I like it.
My first impression about this book was that it'd be a perfect companion for seeing better. The kind of better seeing that a photographer aspires to. And I'm that kind of person who takes photos and wants to see better, so this book seemed like a great, stealthy way to that end.
Set out over 11 walks around cities with people Horowitz knows, the process is extremely simple. But, it's the journey of course. Slow down, and take in more from such interesting people as a typesetter, a blind woman and an animal expert. Along the way, there are some cool facts to learn.
Takes a while to get there, and you'll have to slow down, but On Looking was a good one.
