This report presents the findings of a joint research project of the Human Rights Center, University of California, Berkeley and the Center for Public Health and Human Rights, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, conducted in July 2006. Its objectives were to understand the factors that have contributed to Burma's dire health situation and the spread of infectious diseases in Burma and across its borders. Research was conducted in Rangoon and the border regions of China, Thailand, Bangladesh, and India.
