This is the fourth book in a series of four which progressively build up skills and consolidate learning through a range of practical exercises. These exercises are designed to develop numeracy skills and build children's competence and confidence in mental arithmetic. The approach taken is simple and direct - each rule of number is explained and then practised to ensure understanding. Each double-page spread covers separate teaching points and each book is divided into five sections: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and mixed operations. These sections all follow a similar pattern: an opening warm-up activity, a series of practice sums, a speed test and finally a mini assessment. The series supports both the National Curriculum and the National Numeracy Project. It is designed to work alongside any scheme or resource and can be used to provide extra support for lower ability levels. Self-marking can be applied as answers are provided.
