Rob Pepper's Girls Aloud Compendium follows the artist's journey through the month of October 2006. Everyday a drawing was created and once completed a response was written from a female voice. The results were intriguing and well received. The play of drawing and response makes the drawings stronger but also gives a platform for others to have their voices heard. Traditionally the Artworld frowned upon the voices of the perceivably un-(art)educated, and as a result people became fearful of saying the wrong thing or not "getting it", so instead said nothing. This book helps change that. Art is there to provoke a reaction, whether it makes you want to be sick or brings tears to your eyes, it should resonate at some level. The written pieces in the Girls Aloud Compendium are personal responses from people of all backgrounds and education. Their inclusion here is a way to prove that whether or not people "get" the artist's intentions if a work of art touches you then this is truth enough.
