An introduction to the features of the main cephalopod groups is followed by accounts of over 60 species. Each species account includes a distribution map and identification notes which summarize the main features to look for. While the book focuses on spcies found in relatively shallow coastal waters (typically less than 100 metres), a few of the more bizarre deep-water species are included. A comprehensive section illustrating cuttlebones should enable users to identify most of the species found in relatively shallow water.
