This is the fourth in a series of four books running parallel with the four "Mind Your Language" books and covering the 7-13 age range. Pupils are encouraged to "discover" the rules of spelling through humorous cartoon strips integrating text and pictures. Spelling is linked to language awareness and grammatical knowledge. Pupils learn something of the history of language and word derivations, using prefixes, suffixes and root words. A variety of learning strategies for tricky words is introduced. Sue Palmer is co-author of "I See What You Mean", "Cliffhangers", "Presenting Poetry" and "Mind Your Language". She has written five Book Study Guides for the "Reading 2000" language programme.
