Brad Franklin was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He had an 18-year career as a radio broadcaster, first as a DJ and then as a newscaster/reporter covering municipal politics, later moving to Ottawa to report on federal politics. He was sent to Washington on special assignment, covering the fall of President Nixon for a national network in Canada. He then put in equally long service in the field of public relations, working for a branch of the federal government.Following retirement, Brad and his wife moved to Sidney on Vancouver Island, where he continues to make his home. Not satisfied with retirement, he put in another 14 months as a newscaster for a radio station in Victoria and then took a job teaching English in China. He has made numerous trips back and forth to China helping Chinese students come to university studies in Canada. Brad has two sons and three grandchildren.
