Clifford H. McGee was born and raised in Clay Center, Kansas, the place he called home for much of his life. Throughout the years, he pursued his passions for writing, hunting, fishing, and pigeon racing with vigor, never letting his polio condition slow him down. He earned bachelor's degrees in journalism and social work from Wichita State University and wrote for the Wichita Eagle newspaper. He also published articles in the LA Times, Denver Post, and various other publications. He was working on this novel when he passed away in May, 2020. Known for his stubbornness, quick wit, and lively personality, those closest to him knew that publishing his one and only novel was the best way to honor him.
