Pat Gantz lives with her husband, Ken, in Prescott, Arizona. In childhood, Pat was the proverbial bookworm, developing a fondness for historical fiction. In all of her moves, Pat was no stranger to the city library. This love of reading led to collecting books, especially from bookstores and museums during her travels.Among her travels was the Alaska Inside Passage Cruise. Her correspondence with a pen pal from Anchorage, Alaska in the sixth grade inspired the story, Alaska Invitation. Ironically, her daughter and family live in Anchorage and introduced Pat to her favorite place, Tidal Wave Books which is mentioned in the story, Grandparents' Camp. From these various experiences emerged the three stories in Alaska's Inside Passage Cruise: Tales and Activities.Pat also wrote about adventures on the seas set in the 1780s. A former history teacher, Pat was inspired by the tall mast ships that she sailed and explored when they were docked at seaports. From these experiences, she embarked on imaginary voyages that turned into her historical fiction, Sailing the High Seas series.
