James Bowlby has a master's degree in education allowing him to do what he loves-teach. He has been writing scripts for his acting students and for historical plays for years, earning many awards for plays he has written and directed, but has always loved young adult fiction. He finally had the time to begin writing his own young adult series on Egyptian adventures, beginning with Jonathan and the Sacred Scarab, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The novel began as a short story about a young boy who didn't know his father, but when that young boy became a teenager with more complex problems, James knew he needed a longer medium for his story.

James has always been captivated by ancient Egypt, even teaching an Egyptian history class, and has recently begun studying Hieroglyphs after having visited the country twice. He is gradually getting better at reading this ancient writing. James has two daughters and currently lives with his wife in Salmon Arm, BC, Canada's westernmost province, where he enjoys walking and hiking around the community's many lakes. He is also a great patron of the arts and makes an active effort to see several theatrical and musical performances every month.
