Iván Espinoza-Madrigal is one of Obie's dads. He is an openly gay Latino immigrant with a passion for racial and social justice. He is the executive director of Lawyers for Civil Rights, an organization that provides free legal support to people of color, immigrants, and low-income people. His legal work has been featured in publications such as the New York Times. His writing has been published by the Boston Globe, WBUR, WGBH, and Huffington Post. He resides in Boston, MA, with his husband, Seth.
