Mohammad Hajher is an Afghan refugee. He lost his father at the age of nine, and his family fled Afghanistan after the Russian invasion. Hajher suffered rare difficulties, growing in the absence of his father. With help from the Peace Corp friends, he made it to the United States where he earned a university degree and taught Afghan languages and cross culture at the Defense Language Institute. Now retired, he lives in the Southern United States with his wife. A portion of the proceeds from book sales will be donated to aid his childhood village, providing boys' and girls' education at risk under Taliban rule.
