THOMAS WELLNER is president and CEO of Revera. Since joining Revera in 2014, Mr. Wellner has led the organization through significant transformational changes, developing the company's strategic direction to grow, innovate, and lead in the senior living sector. He has always desired to make a difference in the aging process, which is what excited him more than half a decade ago to make the shift into seniors ' services and investments. As Revera's strategy continues to evolve into more of an investment management model into the aging demographic, he continues to expand the number of partnerships Revera has across its operational, development, and investment network in Canada, the US, and the UK. Investments have grown Revera's portfolio to more than five hundred properties touching more than sixty - three thousand seniors and employing fifty - five thousand team members internationally, making it one of the largest in the world.
After an enjoyable early life in the Maritimes and following university, Wellner started his career at Eli Lilly, where he held a variety of global operational and leadership roles. In 2008, after finishing up at Lilly and a successful two decades in the global pharmaceutical and biotech industry, he has been on a journey to find the balance, meaning, and empathy in the businesses he has had the pleasure of leading. Mr. Wellner holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in life sciences from Queen's University and has completed the ICD Directors Education Program at Rotman School of Management as well as executive education through Harv ard Business School. He sits on the boards of a number of public and private companies. He loves exploring and spending time with his wife, Mary, and their family, traveling when possible but especially enjoying time together at their summer cottage on Caledonia Island on Lake Rosseau.
