Mina Fears grew up in suburban Michigan and attended high school in Minneapolis. At the age of sixteen, she was accepted to Columbia University, where she earned her BA and MFA. She stayed in New York City after graduation to work in the tech industry. The Scorpion Queen is her first novel.
