As a native of Meridian, Mississippi, Wanda Powe and her siblings came of age during the post-civil war era. Early in life, she aspired to become a teacher. She attributes her accomplishments to her close-knit family and those who selflessly gave of their time to provide support and guidance along the way. Powe began her teaching career as an elementary school paraprofessional, and eventually earned a PhD from the University of Alabama as she climbed her way up the career ladder to school administrator. Dr. Powe knows first-hand about the determination, support and encouragement people, and especially children need to stay the course against all odds. Her passion to write poetry has been inspired by her own stories of love, life and ordinary matters with the belief that the power of words can impact a lifetime of achievement. In fact, the compilation of rhyme presented in Where History Meets Poetry, African American Legends, was inspired more than 25 years ago by her former secondary students in Meridian.Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Wanda Powe is the founder of Diversified Solutions PreK-12. As a longtime educator, Dr. Powe is a personal and professional growth specialist. The idea of providing resources and support to both students, including those with special needs and educators alike, is her motivation for establishing Diversified Solutions PreK-12, a training company committed to finding the right solution to meet the diversified needs.
