Scotty Saunders worked on the water in New Zealand for about 15 years, then in Australia for well over a decade, ending up in a dream job as a barge master. A horrific bike accident changed the course of his life. He now lives in Ohope, New Zealand, near the ocean where undeterred by his visual impairment, he continues to enjoy fishing, swimming, and walking along the beach. He seizes opportunities to speak at various gatherings where he encourages others that there is hope after traumatic experiences.
