Jess Nunnelee is a retired petroleum engineer who lived and worked in the country of Yemen for seven years during the 1990s. While living in Sana'a for three years he studied Arabic with the aid of a tutor and became proficient in the basics of the language. He currently resides in Texas. The Sands of the Two Queens is his debut novel.
