Yomna Mohamed is an Engineering Student at Imperial College London.Becoming a specialist in Computer Engineering, an ever-present field, would give Yomna a great opportunity to select and contribute to different fields. One of the emerging topics under this wide title is Machine Learning. ML has the same characteristics as Computer Engineering as it has applications in every other field. Specifically, she has great interest in the applications of ML in healthcare. Yomna lost her 2 siblings due to an idiopathic disease, and she hopes her research in ML could help prevent similar tragedies for others. Yomna likes the work of Dr. Maria Schuld and how she and other contributors have introduced a new family of algorithms that could be as good or better alternatives compared to current traditional ML algorithms. By exploring this triangle of ML, Quantum Computing, and Healthcare, Yomna is hoping to answer the question, how far can the quantum nature of QML (in terms of parallel computing) help build efficient models that can deal with the tremendous amount of personal data, such as their genome, family background, vital signs from wearables, lifestyle, and other data, and can they discover the hidden patterns that cause different type of diseases?Yomna has co-authored the book Future Enterprise: Quantum Computing & Artificial Intelligence with Ahmed Elghadban as part of her efforts to advance these technologies by increasing the public awareness around them.
